Cognitive Neuroscience is the new science of the mind and brain. Investigation has provided new insights into the way humans think, feel and regulate their behavior.

One important advance has been the recognition of a specific set of mechanisms in the brain that regulates attention, allowing us to switch from autopilot to a more focused and controlled mode of interacting with the world.

Research has shown that conflict in the brain drives this system.  Without conflict, there is no learning, and participants in this presentation will develop a new understanding of the central role that conflict and its resolution, reflected in the function of the brain’s conflict processing circuitry, lies at the core of many aspects of human thought, communication and behavior.

Conflict processing has also been linked to how and why people change their attitudes and beliefs. Learning these new discoveries can give trainers and change agents’ additional tools to educate and enlighten students. Please join us for this exciting voyage through the mind with Dr. Carter!

AND THAT’S NOT ALL!

After watching Greg Gollaher’s Graphic Facilitation demonstration in March, several of us stayed and talked to Greg about his many exploits around the world doing Graphic Recording for various Fortune 500 Companies. We were intrigued and wanted to see an example of how a meeting or event was done. It was then that Greg offered to record a future ASTD Sacramento meeting. We said yes before Greg could change his mind!

We then contacted Dr. Carter and got the go-ahead for Greg to do his “Graphic Jam” at our May event! This will be a fascinating talk backed by a secondary way for the information presented to enter our consciousness. The chance to hear Dr. Carter and see a graphic representation of his words and concepts is unique and presents an unprecedented value for our members and guests in attendance. The event will sell out so make your reservations early!
