Executive Chat: Executive Onboarding with Michael Fors

Join ATD Sacramento and UOP Sacramento's Organizational Learning and Effectiveness Program for this timely opportunity to chat with Mike Fors, a seasoned learning executive making an industry transition from high tech at Microsoft to the Boeing aerospace industry.

We plan to discuss:

• What does it mean to quickly and efficiently onboard executives?
  
• How can a learning executive ramp up on the business imperatives while quickly figuring out highest leverage learning, culture change and organizational effectiveness priorities?
  
• What has Mike’s self-onboarding process been to his new role/new industry? What implications does that have for how he might approach onboarding other execs at Boeing?
  
• What is the right balance for a new executive regarding “listening” vs. “advocating,” and “learning” vs. “doing?
  
• How has Mike flexed his leadership style to accommodate the different cultural environments between two different industries, and what “signs” provided some clues along the way?
  

The session will begin with networking over a buffet dinner, then a laid-back interview with Mike by Kori Czasnojc, cultivator of ATD Sacramento’s Organization Development Special Interest Group (OD SIG). We also plan to have small group discussion and an additional group Q&A with Mike about executive onboarding and leadership. We hope you’ll join us!

Michael A. Fors, Ph.D., is an Executive Leader in Boeing’s Leadership, Learning & Organizational Capability (LLOC) Team, driving the transformation toward a 2025 vision. Before Boeing, he was Executive Leader of Learning at Microsoft, transforming Microsoft’s sales, consulting services, and other divisions to achieve Microsoft’s Digital Transformation. Mike also led a P&L as a Microsoft Global Consulting Practice Leader and business strategy teams in Microsoft product and engineering groups. Before Microsoft, Mike was an Executive of Intel University, where he led leadership and management and employee development.

Mike is an adjunct professor at Stanford University and the University of Washington, where he teaches on innovation and entrepreneurism. As a Senior UN Fellow for 20 years, Mike leads United Nations strategy and leadership development programs, and post-conflict strategy and leadership reconstruction programs in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and South Sudan. He has started the Fors Leadership Academy. Mike has a Ph.D. that focused on Education, Leadership, and Business.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Cancellations made more than five (5) calendar days prior to the event will receive a full refund. Cancellations made three (3) to five (5) calendar days prior to the event will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations less than three (3) calendar days prior to the event and no-shows will not be refunded or credited. Any unpaid balance due will remain according to the above guidelines.
